Once Stephen had been stoned, great persecution began against the Christians in Jerusalem.  Many of the Christians moved away from Jerusalem to avoid the worst of the persecution, but they continued to speak of Jesus wherever they went.  Philip the evangelist spoke of Jesus, and even Simon the magician believed.  However, Simon the magician was later rebuked by Peter because his heart was not right.
