After Christ's resurrection, he appeared to his followers at least eleven times.  Some appearances were to one or two followers at a time, some 10 or 11, or to as many as 500 at a time.  Forty days after his resurrection, Jesus was with his disciples on the Mount of Olives. From there he ascended into heaven.  As the disciples watched him ascend, suddenly, two reassuring angels stood beside them and told them that Jesus would one day return, in the same way they had just seen him go.
