Matthew 13:23

Jesus told a parable about a farmer who went out to sow seed.  Some of the seed was very fruitful, and yielded a great crop.  Jesus said that sowing the seed represents telling others the message of the kingdom of God.  Those who hear the message of the kingdom and receive it with understanding produce a great crop.
