Once the Israelites reached the promised land, they found
it occupied. Moses sent twelve men to explore the land and its
inhabitants. When they returned, ten men were fearful, and gave
disheartening reports of unbeatably-powerful people and giants dwelling in
large fortified cities. The other two men, Joshua and Caleb, gave
hopeful reports. The fearlessness of Joshua and Caleb allowed
them to see that God could deliver the promised land to Israel, despite
the powerful warriors and fortified cities in the land. |
