Exodus 12:29

When Pharaoh would not let the Israelites go after nine plagues, God sent the tenth plague, which was the angel of death.  The angel killed the firstborn son of every Egyptian family, including Pharaoh's own son.  As a result of the Shadow of Death, Pharaoh finally let the Israelites leave.
