One night, while on a journey, Jacob was alone on the bank of a river.  A man wrestled with Jacob.  At daybreak, the man touched Jacob's hip and injured it. Jacob discovered that he had been wrestling with God, who was in the form of a man.  God blessed Jacob and called him by a new name: Israel.
