Rachel's father tricked Jacob, and gave him his other daughter, Leah, for a wife.  So Jacob had to work another seven years to marry Rachel, whom he loved.  Leah knew that Jacob loved Rachel, and that made Leah sad.  God saw Leah's sadness and cheered her by blessing her with children.
