Around the time Isaac was entering adolescence, God tested Abraham's faith and commitment by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac.  Isaac did not prevent this from happening.  Because of the meekness of Isaac, God was able to test Abraham and see that Abraham did have faith in God and was committed to God above anything on earth.  God stopped Abraham from killing Isaac at the last second.
